The challenge
To create a strong and recognisable brand identity for one of the UK's first free schools to open. Led by journalist Toby Young, the founding committee recognised the important role that branding would have to play in the launch of the school.
The result
This school was always going to receive much media attention and its opening was extensively covered. The branding has ensured that the school looks as highly professional and successful as it aspired to be. The annual open days hundreds of parents keen to secure for their children one of 120 places for the each academic year, and the school has become the most over-subscribed in the borough. We have continued to work closely with the school (and the other schools within the WLFS Academy Trust) – as it grows year on year so does its communication and marketing needs. Most recently we’ve created the branding and supporting materials for the newly opened Sixth Form.
OUR APPROACH
A poorly executed logo was already in use when we became involved with the project. Working with an illustrator, we created a more refined and carefully crafted version. We developed a visual identity which was applied across stationery, signage and marketing materials, along with the badging of uniform items. We also wrote, designed and produced the school’s first prospectus.
